Ancient Chinese medical text described how by inserting needles into a certain point in the body it causes a healing reaction. Traditional acupuncture treats the whole person. When a person is not balanced they are weakened and they are more likely to suffer pain and illness. Traditional acupuncture is used to rebalance the body.
